Cake: A Love Story

  • Producer: Ariella Media
  • Directors: Misha Zubarev, V. Ulea

Estranged and divorced from each other for many years, a movie-obsessed film critic and an avid senior golfer struggle with demons from their past while trying to rediscover their lost love. Based on a true story, “Cake: A Love Story” follows Harry and Elizabeth Lawrence who, after many years apart, experience a life-changing encounter that brings them back together.

Richard Vernon as Harry

Harry is a retired engineer and member of the senior golf league who prides himself on his single life while still feeling deep pain from divorcing his first love, Elizabeth. Straight forward and strong in outward appearance but sentimental and sensitive deep inside, he manages to convince Elizabeth to remarry him.

Debra Lord Cooke as Elizabeth

After retiring as a college dean -- and because of her passion for movies -- Elizabeth has become a prolific film critic. Although emotionally wounded from the breakup of her marriage to Harry, she feels excited about seeing him again. Despite their past problems, Elizabeth still has feelings for Harry. She learns that romantic miracles can happen at any age, just like in the movies.

Harry and Elizabeth describe the pivotal events that led up to their reunion. Their “confession” made in a present-day interview style reveals funny differences between male and female perceptions. “Cake: A Love Story” combines the interview with upbeat cinematic touches.
