Daria
A. Kirjanov received her PhD. In Russian literature from Yale
University and has taught Russian language, literature and culture
since 1990. She is the author of the book Anton Chekhov and
the Poetics of Memory (2000) , as well as numerous papers and
articles about Russian literature. Before entering full-time
academia, Daria was the costume designer for The Freelance Players,
a children’s theater based in Brookline, Massachusetts.
She also co-founded and acted in Garage 59, a women’s
theater company in Boston. She currently teaches in the Department
of Slavic Languages at the University of Pennsylvania.
